MAIN CLUB SPONSOR.
Skelmersdale United Football Club are pleased to announce that Skelmersdale & Ormskirk College will be the main club sponsor for the 2008-09 season.
The deal is initially for 12 months, but it is hoped that the relationship will be enhanced over the coming years.
One of the many ideas lined up at this early stage is a Football Scholarship Course, which would be similar to the PASE Scheme operated at Southport and other clubs throughout the country.
The deal is the biggest single sponsorship package that the club has ever acquired, and is a great boost to the club considering that they have been without a main club sponsor for the last two seasons.
More news on the deal will follow soon...
TUESDAY 19th AUGUST 2008. Murt off to Kendal.
Following talks with Kendal Manager, Lee Ashcroft and in line with club policy, Tommy Lawson agreed to let Murt go.
"It's a chance for Anthony to play at a higher level, and we've always said that we won't stand in a players way when opportunities like this come along.
"Anthony gave us a vital push towards the play-offs last season and was a much valued member of the squad and will be missed by us all."
The club would like to wish Anthony all the best for the future.

However, justice was served when he pulled off an excellent save to deny Tommy English from the penalty spot. Craig Turns pulled off a world class save to deny Donnelly in the 33rd minute. Mark Houghton was brought down in the 53rd minute and Sean McConville duly tucked away the resultant spot kick to give Skem the lead, but either side of their lucky break had it not been for Ryan McMahon in the Skem goal, City could’ve had a comfortable lead. When the equaliser came in the 70th minute Skem were caught napping. Stephen Richardson’s cross found Gavin Codgen who controlled the ball well before blasting it into the right hand corner of the net. Both teams had efforts towards the end of the game, but based on the fact that it had been a typical game of two halves, the result was the right one. M.O.M. Ryan McMahon (Skelmersdale) Rating: 3/5. Att: 258. Team: McMahon, Duffy, Hardwick, Akrigg, Foster, Wade, McConville, Birchall, Houghton, Donnelly (15.
